The Seattle Times features global manga paradise Kinokuniya.

I visited Kinokuniya Singapore -- and ended up spending most of an afternoon there. The stories are true, people: aisles and aisles and aisles and aisles of the latest manga.

This is definitely worth bringing to the growing Philippine J-fan community.

This topic serves as an online petition to bring Kinokuniya to the Philippines.

If you want aisles and aisles and aisles and aisles of the latest manga brought to the Philippines, let your voice be heard. Post here. B)

Powerbooks already has a manga shelf.

With the explosion of Philippine J-fandom in the last ten years, and the growing sophistication of young Philippine readers, a Kinokuniya franchise is clearly the next logical step for any large Philippine bookstore chain.

evilstar13 - March 23, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
yuFF, i buy mangas there, they only need to expand it though~

Sora_counter_sky09 - March 23, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
yay madadagdagan na ang manga collection ko kung saka-sakali
kasi puro Del Rey and CMX lng ang meron ako//

haha
<< wishes Kinokuniya exists here

amp hati n ang budget ko sa manga & cosplay kung nagkataon

I want more titles in my shelf!! XD XD
(i.e works of Tsukuba Sakura, Satomi Ikezawa, CLAMP etc.)

egghead - March 23, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
damn, with that kind of bookstore every otaku will be in the state of joygasm

although one thing i would like to see if there ever will be a kinokuniya here in the philippines is that hopefully there would be an area where you could read manga freely (just like in powerbooks). hopefully... :ph43r:

Rofe - March 23, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)

i think placing a shelf or two for manga is revolutionary here, so i think it's a good idea.

i only wish that filipino comics had one as well, the problem is that the target segment of most fil comics is generally the working age. only a few comics, like Funny Comics, were targetted to kids.

most filipinos are getting less and less nationalistic in terms of comics i guess.

californiaxrolls - September 30, 2006 06:29 PM (GMT)
i remembered i visited a kinokuniya bookstore in seattle, washington (US).
they had TONS of books there, and i ended up buying only one book, because i ran out of money. also, i saw that they had a lot of the latest j-pop/j-rock and anime soundtracks. man, i would love to have a kinokuniya bookstore in my area lols xD.

MIKOTO - January 22, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
It'll kill Animedea(definitely, since it will grab it's market),comic quest and comic alley if that happens pero mas ok naman mas mababa presyo sa kinokuniya juz like in amazon.co.jp n yes-asia ang presyo.
i normally buy manga sa amazon japan n yes-asia kasi bagsak presyo sila eh.

natsume07 - April 14, 2007 12:24 PM (GMT)
Animedea? I haven't heard of that...
I just hate it... Kala ko dati original stuffs ang binebenta ng Comic Alley... pero I was really disappointed... puro bootleg sila! ewan ko ba kung bakit ineendorse pa ng ABS yun! hmp!
sana may Kinokuniya dito...
konti lang kasi ng mga titles na available sa National, Fully Booked and *i forgot the name*
